ABOUT THE LECTURE
In this lecture, Youri Carlson, Senior Project Manager at BESIX, will present a comparative analysis of two groundbreaking high-rise projects: the Tour Triangle in Paris and the Tour Mohammed VI in Rabat. Both towers exemplify BESIX’s advanced approach to building at extreme heights, with unique design methodologies tailored to each structure’s specific needs and challenges.
The Tour Triangle, standing 180 meters tall, showcases an irregular, truncated pyramidal form that presents unique structural demands, especially regarding facade inclination and complex deformation management. By contrast, the 250-meter Tour Mohammed VI utilizes a steel framework with high lateral resistance, focusing on robustness in an earthquake-prone zone. Youri will delve into how each project addresses key structural challenges, including deformation, concrete shrinkage, and stiffness requirements, demonstrating BESIX’s expertise in optimizing both reinforced concrete and steel elements.
Attendees will gain insights into innovative techniques like crane coordination, core wall presetting, and concrete pumpability strategies essential for large-scale, high-rise construction. This lecture offers a rare opportunity to understand the detailed engineering considerations behind two iconic towers, providing a valuable look into the future of resilient and sustainable skyscraper design.
